Singapore Day 2

We love 💗 Singapore

Day 2 and what a busy one it was. Went on the open top free hop on bus to the Botanical Gardens. On the way you can plug earphones in to hear history of buildings and information on places you pass through. The gardens are free and beautiful. You pay a small fee to enter the orchid garden and the orchids are spectacular. The sun was glorious and it was getting very hot. Caught the bus to Suntec City to look around the shopping mall. Had lunch and then took the bus to Marina Bay where the Marina Bay Sands Hotel is. Went to Marina Bay Mall where there were lots of designer shops and also a waterway in the middle with gondolas. I was quickly whisked away from the shops! From there we went to the MBS Hotel to the observation deck on the 56 floor. The views were really spectacular. The photos I took don’t do justice to the City. Personally I wouldn’t want to stay at the hotel. It was too busy and I think would lack the personal touch and expensive. A glass of wine was £13.50.
Back to our hotel for a short break and shower. Bus again to Suntec City. As the bus stops running at 6pm we had to walk the rest of the way. Pity my Fitbit was charging. I think I have done a weeks walking today alone. Went into the Gardens by the Bay which are free entry. It was heaving with bodies sitting on the floor everywhere. You pay for the Skyway walkway and we could only get tickets for 8.40pm which was the last entry. We didn’t realise that there are 2 musical/light displays every evening. It was absolutely stunning and with the opera music quite emotional. We realise now why so many people were there, especially as it is free. We finally got onto the walkway around 9pm, but the views were spectacular. We didn’t get to the conservatories as the Gardens were closing. By the time we walked back to the river it was quite late. Stopped for a well earned glass of cold wine and a meal. We have so much to see yet. What we don’t get to see tomorrow we will have to put on the list for our visit before we return home. It feels as though we have been here for longer than 2 days. Photos to follow when time permits!! Don’t worry we will be able to bore you all with plenty on our return. X

Next leg

Flight and Singapore

Singapore airlines were really good. Extra legroom in Premium Economy was great. Food was really good. Really comfortable. After 7 hrs. I was beginning to get a little bored and tired. I did have a sleep but don’t think it was that long. Luggage was one of the first to come out as we were priority and it worked well. Worth the extra money. Met by a guy in really lux car. Showed us the sights on the way to hotel. Tired but had to keep going. Singapore is absolutely fabulous. So much going on. Really vibrant City. We are very lucky that a Light to Night Festival is going on at the moment. Spectacular light shows everywhere and live misic in most bars. It is a stunning City. Went on the Singapore Flyer, like the London Eye at night with lights everywhere, fab. Everything’s a.ive and it’s almost midnight. Time for us old folk to retire to bed. PS. Weather absolutely glorious.

Clayton Hotel, Manchester

The Start

Here for the night. Car dropped off at Airport. Just getting warm again. It’s freezing out. Planes out of Manchester were delayed today due to the fog. Hoping it won’t happen tomorrow. Shuttle booked for 7.45am. Will have breakfast at the airport. It will kill time, along with looking around the duty free of course.

Just having a ‘warming up’ G&T or two!!

Meal really nice.

Just a word on our room. When we stayed before we have been to the right of reception. This time we went left to the lifts which were in a really cold area. Our room was nice with all amenities needed. However when it came to the morning after I showered, I tried to dry my hair. The hairdryer did not work. We tried to ring reception but the phone lead kept coming away, so we could not ask for another dryer. It was quite a trek to reception and time was limited before we caught the shuttle to the airport, so Spencer used his mobile to ring reception. They were very prompt in bringing another dryer and apologising. We have since heard from them and they have compensated us. Can’t grumble at that. Would definitely stay here again but I would check that everything was in working order first.
